31 Queen Street is a 2-storey late
Victorian property situated in the Emsworth Conservation Area
and bounds a working boatyard to the south. Both the interior
and exterior had undergone a number of changes over the years
resulting in messy elevations, poor circulation, lack of direct
sunlight to the ground floor, and a steep, narrow staircase.
The Client, a firm of Chartered
Accountants, was moving from larger offices and the brief was
to effectively squeeze a quart into a pint pot, and to give the
building the feel of a contemporary design studio.
